Pitbull euthanized by Animal Care Services after attack on delivery driver

SAN ANTONIO (KTSA News) — The Pitbull dog that mauled a 22-year-old Amazon delivery driver has been put down by San Antonio Animal Care Services (ACS) less than 24 hours after the attack.

Monday’s attack occurred on McNarney Street near the Poteet Jourdanton Freeway before noon as the driver approached a fence to make a delivery.  The dog jumped the fence and pounced on the driver, attacking his face, according to officers.

SAPD Officer Nick Solis says the delivery driver had part of his lip ripped off in the attack. He was transported to a hospital where his condition is unknown at this time.

Police say the owner of the American Staffordshire Terrier surrendered the animal immediately to ACS and is cooperating with police.

ACS says the animal was not vaccinated for rabies and did not have a microchip.

This is the latest in a series of dog attacks in San Antonio in recent months.
